I can’t say enough good things about AmericanK9! Trainer Lucie was amazing with Kit during her 3 week board and train. Kit has been through a lot because of my medical issues and I was super anxious about being separated from her again after 2 years of instability for both of us but this was so worth it! Kit was very receptive to the training methods used and I am so amazed at all of her progress. Lucie encouraged me to be persistent with her training and I am already seeing a huge change in Kit after only being home for a day. Kit is now one step closer to being my fully trained service dog and I am so grateful for all the love and support we were shown from Lucie and the rest of the AmericanK9 team. Can’t wait to return for more SD training. Thank you all for changing our lives!

Fin, our 185lb Irish Wolfhound was having reactivity issues. As you can imagine this was not ideal given his size and strength. Over an 8 week course with Mike, both Fin, and more importantly myself were trained how to properly communicate with one another. Even now the training is still sinking in an I have a much better understanding of my role as a leader for Fin. Mike was efficient, patient and personable. We just had a great Fathers day with lots of family and using our new skills Fin was relaxed, playful and gentle with older family members. Thank You American K9

My Golden Doodle did the two weeks board and train at American K9 with Devin. It was a perfect program for me to use while I was on vacation. During the consultation we reviewed the commands and behaviors I was looking for and she explained the process and training. Devin provided daily updates with pictures and videos showing progress along the way. After the two weeks the trainer reviews all commands with you and ensures you are comfortable with the commands in order to keep training. Follow-up sessions are also scheduled to check on progress. The faculty is very nice and everyone is helpful. I have already noticed a difference at home. Highly recommend!

We were so pleased with the results of the board and train program for our 4 month old puppy. Tabrina was our trainer and we received daily updates from her- including pics and videos. Our puppy looked so happy in every image, which was very heartwarming and reassuring! I wish we had done the training with our other dogs, because now our puppy is better behaved than our 4 year old and 12 year old dogs. Thank you, Tabrina!

We cannot say enough good things about AmericanK9. My wife and I took Henry, our 9-month old miniature Australian Shepherd, to AmericanK9 for the three week board & train program.
When Henry first came to AmericanK9, he was extremely reactive to dogs, people, bikes, scooters - you name it. It became difficult to take him outside of our condo in downtown DC without him blowing up. The day we dropped him off at AmericanK9, we met his trainer, Lucie. Right away, she made an effort to understand all of his behaviors, triggers and tendencies.
Over the next three weeks, we got daily pictures, videos and summaries from Lucie. We were blown away by the transformation - she is an absolutely expert trainer. Much more importantly, we could tell how much she genuinely cared about and liked Henry.
When we picked him up, Henry was a changed dog. The difference is night and day. Lucie took it a step further and spent 2 hours with my wife and I, taking us through hands on instructions to make sure the training Henry got at AmericanK9 transferred home with us. On our first night home, we enjoyed a walk through the busy downtown streets with no incidents at all, and had dinner at home while he laid quietly a little ways away from us in the room.
We love AmericanK9 and are so happy with the investment. It was worth every penny!

We made the decision to part with our "soon to be big" 5 month old puppy and entrust him and his training to Tabrina for 2 weeks. What a great decision! He left with some basics and came home with more, a response button, and super clear parent instructions. We are now totally enjoying our time versus struggling through our time as he gets stronger than us. Tabrina sent daily updates and I truly believe she really likes our dog... it's not superficial - most importantly, he LOVES her!
As well, we love how honest and straightforward Tabrina is in the evaluation of our puppy and choosing what he can handle successfully. E-collar will come with time and he will go to Tabrina to learn.
We had a registration for another board and train and after experiencing the professionalism with intake (thanks Katie! ) and the gut feeling that this was a much better situation we are super happy with our change.

We started Tater at American K9 in Prince Frederick when he was 10 months old. Katie was amazing when I initially called to get information. She was incredibly empathetic when I tearfully told her how scared I was with Tater’s behaviors and our previous experience with my other dogs. She listened and assured me that American K9 could help Tater and more importantly, help with my anxiety!
During our consultation Mike was upfront, honest and reassuring! There was no doubt after leaving that afternoon, I was signing Tater up!
When we started our first training session, I was sure Tater was the most bullheaded dog Mike had ever seen! However, I was quickly amazed and in awe watching Mike “break” Tater and when he complied to his first command, I couldn’t have been more excited!!
Throughout our 6 week private training, Mike provided us with tips & tricks on how to train a stubborn English Bulldog! Although Tater gave him a run for his money, Mike was nothing but patient and calm during our entire training!!
I, 100%, recommend American K9!! Thank you for everything! We will miss coming to school every Tuesday!
